Bobby in the Shop

I have so many projects that I’ve started over the years, I’m not ashamed really, I think everyone does it.

I have an amazing set up; an awesome workshop and a grand visions of a robotics and automation lab; software and hardware.

I want to make the things and write the control software to guide them.

If you want to make anything in the physical world, it all starts with a lathe really. Though the ultimate goal is robots, what are cnc machines but robots? Sensors and actuators. Working on cnc machines is nothing lost, we take sensor input, make some control decisions and hopefully get our desired output.

In my possession I have two cnc mills, 2 cnc lathes, a waterjet and and old cnc machine. If they were all working perfectly I would be very proud of my accomplishments. And from there I could build more interesting things.

First will be the small cnc lathe. A spindle, two axes and minimal functionality. But I will be able to build on that as the projects and machines get more complex.
