Linkages are amazing. The 3 point method is the first stop for designing a linkage around a desired motion. To do so requires the skill of finding a circle that passes through three points. All modern CAD packages will have a 3 point circle, which is shorthand for using perpendicular bisectors as outlined in the video below.
